The seventh edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Grand Champions Cup Open will be held from September 5 to 10, 2017 in the cities of Tokyo and Nagoya in Japan.
The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup features a total of six teams per gender with the host nation, Japan, and four continental champions from Asia, Europe, NORCECA and South America, and one wild card entry granted by the FIVB.
The Round Robin system is used for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Grand Champions Cup.
Each edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Grand Champions Cup has seen a different champion. Cuba won the first games in 1993, while Russia won in 1997, China in 2001, Brazil in 2005 and Italy in 2009. In 2013, Brazil achieved another feat, as they were the only nation to win the competition twice. The Brazilians were undefeated in the last edition, only dropping a total of two sets in the Round Robin tournament.
